hard times

I've been going through a lot of stuff lately....things I am having to learn to deal with for the first time in my life.  I feel very alone and I've reached out to a few people who said they were my friends but got not even so much as an email in return....its been 2 weeks....I waited patiently....who doesn't anyone care?

Long absence....

I haven't been on in awhile...I ended up having to move again.  Now we are settled for awhile I hope.  I have had a lot of issues going on lately...bills piling up....christmas coming...lots of pressure and no way to relieve it.

So I lost all my dolls on my hard drive because it crashed in the last move.  So if anyone is reading this and can possibly send me any of my old creations which would be under Desta's Dollz, Desta DeZines or Dawn's DeZines I would greatly appreciate it, also any heads I have made for you as I do keep them in case someone loses theirs and needs them back.  I also lost all the other doll bodies and heads I had from all the other artists so if anyone has anything that they have permission or can get permission to share I would be so grateful for it.

I have tried making doll bodies again to help with some of the stress I'm feeling, I do them because I can get lost in pixels and not think about anything else...These are not done for profit of any kind so don't bother me with copyright issues because I do not break any of them when I am just doing this for fun.  I cannot afford to have this hobby if I have to pay for it as internet is already costing me $100.00 a month...

Without further ado, here are my next installment of doll bodies and if anyone has anything they can send me please send to justahippie@gmail.com Thanks everyone!  Enjoy!

Please click HERE to download the body sheet.  Thanks!

Being alone vs being a social butterfly...

I used to live in the country...not many visitors and not many trips out of the house.  I lived a quiet life.  I was lonely and often depressed.  Now I live in an apartment, in town.  I don't like it.  I don't like the fact that the neighbor across the street is a dealer, I don't like the fact that the neighbor downstairs slams the doors all the time.  It's too noisy, I hate listening to ambulances and police sirens all night and the traffic!  Oy I live on a brick road!!  The traffic noise is terrible.  The yelling in the middle of the night from the neighbors fighting...I want my country home back so badly.  On top of all this you get involved in peoples dramas, when you live far away no one really thinks about you much because you aren't around them every day but then you move in closer and the drama gets intensified by 100%.  I have one friend, I'll call friend a, that is suspected of being an addict and I have never been around a situation like this before so I have no idea what to do or what to think or what to say.  My other friend, friend b we shall say..., has known friend a for over 20 years and been through some really intense situations with her and she tells me she is trying to help and friend a says that she is playing me and that I shouldn't trust what she says because she lies, so who the hell do you believe??  I have only known friend a for 3 years and only recently has it gotten to where we hang out and stuff more and friend b and I hardly know each other at all and she doesn't even totally trust me and I don't trust her...  UGH!  I don't understand....How do people deal with this kind of confusion on a daily basis...and not go crazy?

For awhile I thought I was depressed because I was always alone, but I'm kinda depressed now with all this going on so I'm not sure which is worse, loneliness or social butterfly...

Scored a new art journal for cheap!!

I'm always shopping for goodies at the Salvation Army or "Sally's Boutique" as I like to call it....lol  I scored this beautiful hand made paper photo album actually but its just pages of handmade paper bound together and although says photo album on the cover, I don't have to keep that there and the inside has a bit of writing but I can paint over that but just look at this gorgeous book!  It FEELS just as good as it LOOKS!!!  Yummy paper!!!!  All this yumminess for $1.99!!  YAY!

I also cut my daughters hair the other night and she looks just darling!  I think but I am biased I must say!  LOL  Here is what she looks like now, I didn't think to take a before picture!  But her hair was down to the middle of her back or longer and she hated brushing it...

Life Book 2012

I have had the priviledge of winning a place in Tamara LaPorte's Life Book 2012 class.  This is a 12 month art class where we are studying different mixed media techniques and how to paint girls faces.  I wanted to post what I have completed so far...

The first page was a 3/4 portrait and a list of our Goddess Super Powers or good qualities...It was designed with a foldout section.

This is my dream board.  The things I want to have or get in the new year.

This was was supposed to be our good side and bad side and that seemed way to harsh to me I guess so this is what I came up with...

This is just an extra page I did because I had half a sheet of paper left...

This is also an extra page I did with inspiration from Kira over at Journal Girl.

This is also just an extra page I did that was done on a thick piece of chip board.

This was also my own design...just a page I felt like doing when I found the quote...

The light hit this one funny so her face looks kinda strange but it doesn't look like that in real life, just figuring out the new camera I got at tax time to use...lol  This one is a technique that Tam developed called paint over collage.  I took the face of a magazine model and glued it down and then painted a stylized face over it...

The next couple are the same because I really enjoyed doing this technique so I did a few others like it...

This one was done on another half sized sheet of watercolor paper....

I started this lesson in layering with the intention of pulling some funky face or other things from the background but no matter which way I turned it I didn't see any faces or any features at all in the background so I just practiced on drawing another pretty girl...and I love quotes by Marilyn Monroe!  She was such a beautiful brassy woman and I could see myself saying some of the things she said!  So I included one of my favorite Marilyn quotes on this sheet...

Well I guess that is about it...hopfully now that I have a new camera I will be able to keep up with what I am working on.  I am still working on my Sacred Box meant to house my Life Book when it is finished and bound...that has been a very long process...LOL  Well, talk again soon!

Memories

I was listening to the radio yesterday and for calling in and telling them about a favorite Christmas memory you would automatically get ten scratch off lottery tickets and I thought well I could do that...so I was thinking about what my happiest Christmas memory was and I can honestly say that it was eleven years ago when I first got together with my husband and I spent my first Christmas with his family.  I was welcomed in and treated as though I had been there forever and my favorite thing was that no one was fighting.  All day long there was 25 or so people in this house enjoying Christmas day together, opening gifts and exchanging hugs and laughter and there was not one ill word all day long.  I loved it.  It was the best Christmas I ever had but then we get to today and somewhere in between I made a huge mistake although still unknown to me as to what I did.  So the other day my husband goes over to get Christmas stuff from his parents and there is 2 cards for my husband and my daughter and treats galore for the animals in my house but not a thing for me.  I know I shouldn't let it bother me but it does.  Especially when I think of the stark contrast between then and now and my not knowing what changed it all and if it is fixable or not.  By the time I had thought all these thoughts someone else had already called in and claimed the free lottery tickets....figures....

A Thank you

My most lucid and thoughtful moments occur when I am out driving my car.  I drive a 97 Jeep Wrangler.  My dream car.  I have wanted one since I was 7 and I didn't get one til after I turned 41.  My sister has the same kind of car, different year but isn't that funny.  We both have one and love them!  Anyway, I digress.  I was talking about lucid thoughtful moments when I am driving.  Someone said to me yesterday that I was so different than I was when she first met me.  She has been meeting with me once a week for the last year.  She is my case manager and she is an angel.  She brought it to my attention yesterday that I was a different person 1 year ago.  She is right.  I'm not that same person anymore I'm so much more than that person was.  I see it now kind of but more than I used to which is nice.  So I guess I just wanted to say thanks to that special angel that comes to visit me once a week.  Thanks.
